The National Youth Parliament Association of Antigua and Barbuda (NYPAAB) has issued a formal public statement addressing a controversial incident involving several of its members that took place at the Royalton Resort on October 21, 2026. In the statement, the organization took full responsibility for the unacceptable behavior of its members and extended a sincere apology to all parties affected, including resort employees, other guests on the property, and fellow youth parliamentarians who experienced unnecessary distress as a result of the event.
In an effort to correct misinformation circulating in public discourse, NYPAAB representatives explicitly clarified that the association’s president had no connection whatsoever to the incident, and was not present at the location at the time of the event. The organization acknowledged that the situation carries significant weight, and reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to upholding core institutional values of integrity, personal accountability, strict discipline, and mutual respect across all member activities.
NYPAAB also moved to reassure the Antigua and Barbuda public that the organization has launched a full internal disciplinary process to investigate the incident thoroughly. The review will cover all reported circumstances of the event, including specific allegations of reckless behavior connected to the incident, to ensure all facts are uncovered and appropriate action is taken.
As a youth-focused institution whose core mission is to cultivate the next generation of civic and political leaders for Antigua and Barbuda, NYPAAB emphasized that every member, regardless of their role or standing within the organization, is held to the same strict standards of conduct that align with the group’s founding values. The organization stressed that the vast majority of its youth parliamentarians contribute significant time, effort and meaningful work to advance youth development, expand civic engagement across the country, and deliver public service to Antigua and Barbuda. These positive contributions, the group argued, should be evaluated on their own merit and not overshadowed or discredited by the inappropriate actions of a small number of members.
In closing, the association expressed gratitude for the ongoing public interest in its work and the sustained support the nation has provided to its youth leadership initiatives.
