Reigning I-NET Party Monarch champions Young Lyrics and Tian Winter spent nine days touring and performing across London, turning one of Europe’s biggest cultural festivals into a platform to share the unique spirit of Antigua’s Carnival with a global audience, and build international excitement for the island nation’s upcoming milestone 70th anniversary Carnival in 2027.
Widely recognized as one of the largest public celebrations of Caribbean and Black British culture on the planet, Notting Hill Carnival draws more than two million attendees every year, uniting people from across the United Kingdom, the wider Caribbean, and every corner of the globe. For decades, the annual event has served as a critical stage for elevating Caribbean art, music, food, fashion, and cultural heritage, making it the perfect setting for Antigua and Barbuda’s performers to introduce their distinct soca sound to new listeners. Against the colorful, bustling backdrop of Notting Hill, Young Lyrics and Tian Winter delivered high-octane performances that put a spotlight on Antigua’s growing global musical footprint and the unmatchable, joyful energy that defines the island’s Carnival tradition.
During their nine-day UK engagement, the pair performed at a lineup of prominent cultural events, including Dreamland, I Island Mas, and the “I am Woman” soca showcase headlined by acclaimed artist Patrice Roberts. He added, “Notting Hill is such a iconic celebration of all Caribbean culture, so getting to represent Antigua and Barbuda here was a huge honor. A lot of people around the world know Antigua for our beautiful postcard-perfect beaches, but many haven’t gotten to experience the full magic of our Carnival. We want people to hear our sound here in London, get excited, and then come visit Antigua to feel that energy for themselves.”
