In the early hours of a Saturday in Biscayne Village, Belize District, a violent home invasion has left a long-serving elderly pastor victimized by a gang of masked criminals posing as law enforcement. The 80-year-old victim, identified by local authorities as Dennis Slusher, told investigators he was in a deep sleep when frantic, loud banging on his front door jolted him awake between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m.
When Slusher did not immediately open the door, the intruders shifted tactics, forcing their way through the home’s back entrance to gain access. All four gang members were wearing masks to conceal their identities and dark clothing to avoid detection in the pre-dawn darkness. Two of the attackers were openly carrying loaded firearms, according to official police accounts of the incident.
During the invasion, one of the armed assailants struck Slusher hard on the right side of his head, leaving the elderly man injured and disoriented. The gang then demanded keys to two of Slusher’s vehicles parked at the property: a 2024 silver Toyota Hilux and a 2016 silver Toyota Land Cruiser. After securing the keys, the criminals drove both vehicles away from the residence.
The gang did not stop at vehicle theft; they also stole two personal mobile phones and a 19-inch TCL television from the pastor’s home before fleeing the scene. The stolen vehicles have distinct Belizean license plates: the Hilux is registered as BCC-79836, while the Land Cruiser carries the plate BCC-84437.
In the aftermath of the attack, Belizean law enforcement has issued an urgent public alert, asking residents across the district to remain vigilant and keep an eye out for the two missing vehicles. Authorities have urged anyone who spots either vehicle, or encounters any suspicious activity that could link to the robbery, to immediately contact emergency services at 911, the dedicated police tip line at 207-2222, or visit the closest local police precinct to report their observations.
