Seven police officers promoted to senior superintendent

In a formal leadership development move, the Barbados Police Service (BPS) has confirmed the elevation of seven seasoned serving officers to the rank of Senior Superintendent, with the promotions set to officially take effect on November 1, 2026. The newly promoted cohort includes Roderic Walcott, who currently serves as Commandant of the Regional Police Training Centre, alongside fellow veteran officers Mark White, Dwayne Cumberbatch, Paul Lynch, Lesteal Woodroffe, Winston Holder, and Derrick Bobb. The official appointment letters were personally handed over to each of the seven officers by Commissioner of Police Sonia Boyce during a short, dignified ceremony held at Police Headquarters on a recent Friday morning. Senior BPS administration representatives explained that the carefully vetted promotion round is a core component of the service’s ongoing strategic initiative to reinforce its mid-to-senior leadership pipeline, while also formally acknowledging the decades of dedicated on-duty experience, consistent high performance, and long-standing public service contributions that each promoted officer has demonstrated throughout their careers. The promotions are expected to bring enhanced operational oversight and institutional knowledge to key BPS divisions as the force continues to adapt to evolving public safety needs across the island nation.
