Eight entrepreneurs compete in 2026 Business Plan Innovation Award

Eight ambitious emerging entrepreneurs from Dominica have stepped into the spotlight to present their groundbreaking business concepts to an expert judging panel, competing for the prestigious 2026 Business Plan Innovation Award organized by the Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT). This annual competition, designed to nurture local young entrepreneurial talent, has brought together a diverse cohort of creators and builders, all eager to turn their ideas into scalable, impactful local businesses. Each participant delivered a polished, detailed presentation that laid out their venture’s mission, target market, growth strategy, and projected social and economic impact for the local Dominica economy, turning the preliminary judging round into a tightly contested battle for the top prize.

The eight competitors vying for recognition are Jerwin Lavile, Jarah Jno Baptiste, Romello Rodney, Lisa Ernest, Leonnie Gorden, Martel Daniel, Nyla Baptiste and Ellyon Bellot. Their proposed ventures span a wide cross-section of sectors, from sustainable local tourism and community-focused agriculture to digital services for small local businesses, highlighting the breadth of creativity, passion, and grit among Dominica’s next generation of business leaders. Every concept on display reflects a deep understanding of local community needs, paired with the drive to build profitable enterprises that contribute to national economic growth.

Per DYBT’s official announcement, the names of this year’s award winners will not be revealed until Global Entrepreneurship Week, which is scheduled for November 2026. The upcoming public announcement will cap off months of preparation, application screening, and judging, formally honoring the competitors whose business plans have impressed the panel most and awarding the top prizes that will help winning entrepreneurs launch and scale their ventures.
