A new national initiative is calling on creative talent with roots in Antigua and Barbuda, no matter where they live across the globe, to help craft the visual face of one of the country’s most anticipated new cultural institutions. The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has partnered with the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission to launch an official logo design competition for the upcoming Antigua and Barbuda National Performing Arts Theatre, centered on the evocative theme: “Bring Our Culture. Shape Our Identity.”
This landmark competition is more than just a design call—it is an open invitation for citizens and nationals of all ages to play a direct role in shaping the identity of a venue that will stand for decades as a hub for celebrating, protecting, and sharing Antigua and Barbuda’s vibrant cultural legacy and world-class performing arts talent. Organizers are challenging participants to craft a logo that encapsulates the core spirit of the competition’s theme, weaving together the nation’s unique cultural heritage and its evolving artistic identity.
Beyond the honor of creating the official mark for a national landmark, the creator of the winning entry will take home a cash prize of EC$2,500. The competition is scheduled to run from October 1 through October 15, 2026, with all submissions required to be submitted by the closing deadline of 11:59 p.m. on October 15, 2026.
To ensure fairness and originality, clear entry requirements have been put in place for all participants. The competition is open to all Antiguan and Barbudan nationals of any age, whether based in the country or living abroad. All entries must be a single, original, never-before-published design, and AI-generated work is strictly prohibited from submission. Designs must explicitly reflect the distinct culture and performing arts ecosystem of Antigua and Barbuda, and must include the full official name “Antigua and Barbuda National Performing Arts Theatre” alongside the competition theme. Entries also must meet functional design standards: the logo must be simple, memorable, and versatile enough to work equally well in full color and monochrome black-and-white formats.
Required submission materials include high-resolution PNG or JPG files of both the full-color and monochrome versions, an editable vector source file, and a short written explanation that outlines the designer’s concept and how it connects to the competition’s core theme.
Entries will be judged across six key categories: creativity and originality, cultural relevance to Antigua and Barbuda, conceptual clarity, visual appeal, functional versatility for different use cases, and overall impact. Upon selection, full ownership and intellectual property rights of the winning logo will transfer to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, which will hold it as the official identity of the theatre.
Government officials have extended a broad call to creatives across all disciplines, from independent artists and graphic designers to art students and seasoned creative professionals, urging them to take advantage of this once-in-a-generation opportunity to leave a permanent legacy on a national institution that will stand as a lasting symbol of cultural expression, artistic excellence, and national pride for Antigua and Barbuda.
