On September 25, 2026, a leading youth-focused career outreach event brought local educators, industry leaders and public service institutions together at Dominica’s Stadium Forecourt, hosted by the national chapter of Junior Chamber International (JCI). Among the dozens of participating organizations, the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) brought a hands-on, interactive presence to Future Fest, designed to connect young learners with firsthand insights into careers in law enforcement and public service.
Led by Acting Sergeant Dion Moses, the CDPF delegation included senior members of the force’s Community Oriented Policing Unit, a team focused on building trust and collaborative relationships between law enforcement and local communities. Over the course of the day, the team welcomed hundreds of secondary and post-secondary students from schools spanning every region of the island nation, creating an open, approachable space for conversation and exploration.
During their interactions, CDPF officers moved far beyond generic recruitment talking points to outline the diverse array of professional pathways available within the local police force. They emphasized that a career in policing offers more than just stable employment: it is a rewarding vocation rooted in core values of community service, personal discipline, continuous professional growth, and the chance to make a tangible, positive impact on the daily lives of fellow Dominicans.
To demystify the application and training process, organizers structured the CDPF booth to encourage student-led questions. Attendees left with clear, detailed information about entry requirements, training protocols, day-to-day job responsibilities, and the range of specialized roles available within the force, from community policing to forensics and administrative leadership. Many students reported that the open conversation corrected outdated assumptions about law enforcement work and opened their eyes to new career possibilities.
Future Fest itself was structured as a one-stop career exploration platform, bringing together a wide cross-section of public and private sector organizations to expose young people to opportunities they may not encounter in standard classroom settings. Beyond public safety, students were able to explore pathways in healthcare, technology, agriculture, education, and skilled trades, collecting information about post-secondary education requirements, apprenticeship programs, and entry-level job openings across sectors.
Following the event, the CDPF issued a statement reaffirming its long-term commitment to youth engagement across Dominica. “As the next generation prepares to step into their professional futures, it is our responsibility to meet them where they are, answer their questions, and show them the many ways they can build meaningful careers while serving our country,” the statement read.
