The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has announced that Tropical Storm Dolly has lost the defining structural characteristics of a tropical storm, weakening into an active tropical wave as it traverses the Atlantic Ocean.
As of the latest meteorological update, the weather system is positioned roughly 1,600 kilometers east of the Lesser Antilles, and it is advancing quickly toward the west at a forward speed of around 41 kilometers per hour. While scattered convection associated with the decaying system continues to generate maximum sustained wind speeds reaching up to 65 kilometers per hour in some pockets, forecasters project that these wind speeds will continue to diminish gradually over the coming days.
Despite the system’s weakening trend, Indomet has emphasized that residents across potentially affected regions should remain vigilant, keep up to date with evolving conditions, and closely follow official meteorological updates as the tropical wave continues its westward journey across the Atlantic basin.
