Garifuna Collective Embarks on European Tour, Celebrating 20 Years of Music

July 22, 2026 — Belize’s globally celebrated roots music ensemble the Garifuna Collective has launched a 14-day international tour across Europe, capping off a year of landmark 20th anniversary celebrations and carving a new historic path for Belizean culture on the world stage.

This cross-continental run brings the group to iconic stages across the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Germany. It builds on a year of anniversary shows that kicked off earlier in 2026, with sold-out performances in the Collective’s home country of Belize, followed by tour stops across the United States and Canada that drew widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike.

The European outing arrives on the heels of a groundbreaking career first for the group: the Garifuna Collective has become the first Belizean musical act ever to land a cover feature in a major international music publication. The ensemble graces the July 2026 issue of *Songlines Magazine*, the UK’s leading print and digital outlet focused on global roots and world music.

The issue’s in-depth cover profile explores the Collective’s decades-long mission to preserve centuries-old Garifuna cultural traditions and share the community’s distinct musical heritage with international audiences. Alongside the feature, the magazine’s signature “Top of the World” cover-mount compilation CD — which showcases standout world music tracks from across the globe — includes an exclusive new cut from the group titled “DUNURU (Bird)”. The track is scheduled for its official full worldwide release on August 14.

Eight talented Belizean artists are representing the country on this tour: lead members Desiree Diego, Kenrick Lewis, Mohobub Flores, Al Ovando, Denmark Flores, Emilio Thomas, Sam Harris, and Austin Aranda.

Following the conclusion of the European run, the Collective will return home to Belize in August. The group has already scheduled a public press conference at the iconic House of Culture in Belize City, where they will share behind-the-scenes stories, performance highlights, and next steps for the ensemble following their milestone anniversary year.
