Police Academy Chief Calls for Modern Training Facility to Meet Evolving Crime Threats

During a historic graduation ceremony for the 50th Recruit Training Course at Antigua and Barbuda’s Sir Wright F. George Police Academy, Superintendent Rodney Ellis, the facility’s commandant, has issued a formal public appeal to the national government to prioritize the construction of a purpose-built, modern police training academy on the institution’s existing site. Addressing gathered recruits, officials, and stakeholders, Ellis used the occasion of the milestone graduation to highlight a critical gap in the country’s law enforcement infrastructure: the current academy building no longer meets the evolving demands of 21st-century policing.
