Overwegend droge, zonnige en vooral zeer warme zaterdag

On November 7, Suriname is set to experience another exceptional, unseasonably hot day, according to the latest official meteorological forecasts. The day kicks off with unobstructed bright sunshine from the early morning hours, with cloud cover only beginning to build gradually in the afternoon — a shift that will offer virtually no respite from the sweltering conditions. Starting at a relatively mild 23 degrees Celsius in the pre-dawn early hours, temperatures will climb steadily as the morning progresses, hitting 32 to 34 degrees Celsius by midday. By 3 p.m. local time, localized temperature readings could surge as high as 38 degrees Celsius, a highly unusual heat level for this time of year. While forecasters note a slow increase in cloud cover through the afternoon, the probability of measurable rainfall sits at a mere 1%, ruling out any meaningful cooling from precipitation for the foreseeable future. Even after sunset, the oppressive warmth lingers: temperatures will hover around 30 degrees Celsius by 7 p.m., only gradually dipping to a balmy 26 to 27 degrees Celsius in the late evening, with intermittent breaks in cloud cover and no significant risk of rain throughout the night. This prolonged spell of extreme late-spring heat has raised quiet concerns among local public health authorities, who have urged vulnerable groups including the elderly, children, and people with chronic conditions to limit prolonged outdoor exposure and stay properly hydrated.
