Voter confirmation period ends in Dominica; continuous registration to resume Friday

After weeks of public outreach and voter verification, Dominica’s official voter confirmation exercise wrapped up at 5:30 PM local time on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. But island-wide voter registration services will not come to a halt, the country’s Electoral Office has confirmed, shifting immediately to a new phase of continuous registration to accommodate eligible citizens who have not yet finalized their enrollment.

Starting this Friday, October 16, any eligible voter who has not completed the registration process will be able to visit dedicated Registration Offices located in each of Dominica’s 21 constituencies. The Electoral Office stressed in an official public statement that the conclusion of the voter confirmation exercise does not equate to an end to all registration services, reassuring residents that opportunities to enroll will remain widely available.

The decision to maintain the October 14 deadline without any extension was formalized during an Electoral Commission meeting held on October 7, and that timeline has been strictly adhered to. With the confirmation period now closed, administrative focus has pivoted to the new continuous registration model, which will remain in operation until the Electoral Office issues a further update on its status.

All registration services will be hosted at the same locations that previously served as Confirmation Centres in each constituency, eliminating confusion for residents seeking to complete the process. The Electoral Office has published a revised operating schedule for these offices, which will be open 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturdays. All offices will be closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The Electoral Office is actively encouraging all eligible Dominican citizens who have not yet finished their voter registration to take advantage of the ongoing service by visiting their local designated office during the published operating hours. Officials have also reminded the public to familiarize themselves with the revised hours to avoid any inconvenience. In closing, the Electoral Office reaffirmed that continuous registration will remain in place following the conclusion of the confirmation exercise, extending additional opportunities for eligible citizens to complete the enrollment process ahead of upcoming electoral events.
