From October 10 to October 24, a cohort of media delegates from eight Caribbean nations, including Antigua and Barbuda, are convening in China for a specialized capacity-building training initiative designed to deepen connections between the region and the East Asian giant. Organized under the auspices of the China Public Diplomacy Association, the program brings together participating media professionals from a diverse roster of Caribbean countries: Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Suriname, Grenada, Jamaica, and the Bahamas, in addition to Antigua and Barbuda. Conducted entirely in English, the training curriculum blends practical skill development with immersive cultural and educational experiences, extending beyond traditional classroom instruction to include guided visits to iconic cultural and historical landmarks across China, structured roundtable discussions centered on the evolution of China-Caribbean bilateral relations, and detailed briefings that outline the rapid progress of China’s modern technological ecosystem. According to event organizers, the core objective of this people-centered diplomatic initiative is to strengthen people-to-people bonds and deepen cultural mutual understanding between Chinese and Caribbean communities. It also offers participants a comprehensive overview of five flagship cooperation frameworks developed by China to advance mutually beneficial collaboration across Latin America and the Caribbean, laying the groundwork for expanded partnership in media, cultural, economic and social spheres in the years ahead.
