Two CDPF officers complete regional community policing course

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) is celebrating a key professional milestone for two of its members, Sergeant Jefferson Drigo and Woman Police Constable Alana Honore, who recently wrapped up the rigorous RSS Training Institute Community Policing Course 2/2026 hosted in neighboring Barbados. This official announcement, shared via a public statement from the CDPF, confirms the pair’s successful completion of the two-week specialized program designed to reorient modern policing strategies.

Unlike traditional training that centers heavily on apprehension and law enforcement response, this cohort’s curriculum shifted focus to proactive, relationship-driven public safety. Course organizers prioritized teaching participants how to build sustained, mutually respectful partnerships with local community members, rather than relying solely on reactive arrest protocols. Core learning objectives included strengthening public trust between law enforcement and residents, as well as building collaborative problem-solving skills to address persistent local safety and quality-of-life concerns.

In its statement, the CDPF emphasized that the successful graduation of Drigo and Honore reinforces the force’s long-standing institutional commitment to expanding community-oriented policing across Dominica. For the national force, investing in this specialized training is a core part of cultivating a new generation of officers equipped to actively engage with residents, provide targeted support to vulnerable neighborhoods, and deliver public safety services that center the needs of the communities they serve.
