The overall 2026 Miss World crown went to Joheirry Mola of the Dominican Republic, with Elisabeth Reynes of Spain taking first runner-up and Taanusiya Chetty of Malaysia securing second runner-up. She described Gill as being shocked by the announcement before bursting into ecstatic celebration, with Gill’s parents, who traveled to Vietnam to support their daughter, equally stunned and overjoyed by the outcome. “It was just all of us jumping for joy,” Lochan Dass recalled of the celebratory moment.
Lochan Dass praised Gill’s performance throughout the multi-week competition, noting that the Arima-born contestant represented her home country with unparalleled grace, poise, and intellectual brilliance. “The judges had no choice but to fall in love with her. We are extremely proud of her,” she said. That is when you start shining internationally. Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to prepare contestants for international pageants.”
