He was most widely recognized as the head of the Hadeed Group of Companies, a regional business conglomerate that grew from its Antiguan roots to expand operations across seven markets, including Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana, and the United States.
Merchant shared that Cabinet highlighted the unique value Sir Aziz brought to national governance, bringing a rare combination of wisdom, uncompromising integrity, long-term strategic vision, and hands-on business expertise to every role he held.
