Tourism authority lands int’l platforms for new brand rollout

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) has formally rolled out its fully refreshed national destination brand, backed by a sprawling network of partnerships with major international airlines, global news outlets, and specialized travel marketing agencies to drive a sharp rise in visitor arrivals from top priority markets. The official public launch of the new brand identity went live on Sunday, announced during a packed media briefing held in Kingstown this past Saturday by SVGTA Chief Executive Officer Shafia London and the authority’s Public Relations and Communications Officer Alex Barnwell.

During the briefing, London laid out the scope of the newly secured global advertising footprint, confirming that in-flight screens across all Air Canada fleets worldwide now feature the new SVG destination branding, with a parallel campaign set to go live across all Virgin Atlantic aircraft starting November 15. The tourism body is also in active advanced negotiations with regional carrier InterCaribbean Airways to roll out a targeted regional marketing push aimed at driving intra-Caribbean travel to the island nation.

Beyond airline partnerships, London noted that the SVGTA has secured formal approval from its board of directors and the national tourism ministry to overhaul its market engagement operating models in two of its highest-priority source markets: the United Kingdom and Canada. The authority has appointed specialized local travel marketing agencies, Palmer and Partners for the UK market and Vox for the Canadian market, to leverage their established, deep-rooted travel trade networks to open access to industry spaces that would otherwise be out of reach for local SVG tourism teams. These partnerships, London emphasized, will allow the destination to tap into pre-existing professional connections that streamline entry to high-impact industry gatherings and stakeholder meetings.

The global media partnership portfolio already locked in by the SVGTA includes prominent placements and editorial features with leading international outlets spanning both the US and UK markets: The Independent, the Daily Mail, National Geographic, Sailing Weekly, and the Associated Press, with additional collaboration underway with Compass Magazine tied to the upcoming launch of the country’s new Marine Paradise promotional platform. The authority has also held targeted discussions with Fox News and affiliated derivative news networks to ensure all coverage of the island nation aligns with official, fact-checked brand messaging, eliminating inaccurate framing or misleading narratives.

Barnwell walked attendees through the phased transition plan to phase out the old legacy destination logo, noting that many longstanding international tourism partners still hold pre-produced marketing materials featuring the outdated branding. The staged rollout will provide all stakeholders with pre-vetted, standardized new brand assets and clear implementation guidance to ensure a smooth, consistent shift to the refreshed identity. He outlined that the entire global marketing strategy is anchored around three core promotional pillars that highlight the island’s unique selling points: culture and celebration, nature and adventure, and the new Marine Paradise focus area.

The top three priority source markets for the new campaign are designated as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, with tailored marketing content for each audience segment distributed through channels optimized for local consumer behavior. Barnwell noted that the SVGTA team has been working 20-hour days for months to execute the multi-pronged launch, describing the pace as demanding but deeply rewarding. The authority has also built active collaborative frameworks with the local hotel association, niche special interest travel groups, and all broader tourism industry stakeholders to ensure full alignment across the entire local hospitality ecosystem. As part of recent national independence celebrations, the SVGTA submitted a dedicated promotional destination reel to Sandals Resorts properties across the region to be screened in tandem with the national anthem. The authority also has integrated advanced analytics tools in place to track the real-time reach and engagement of all social media and digital promotional content, to measure conversion from brand awareness to actual tourist bookings. Barnwell stressed that the entire strategy is designed to move beyond passive promotional talk to deliver tangible, measurable growth in visitor arrivals, with tangible brand touchpoints already visible for travellers flying on participating partner airlines.
