Sandhill Fisherman Pleads Not Guilty to Five Attempted Murders

A high-stakes criminal case centered on a 2025 shooting targeting police officers has taken a key procedural step, as the accused, a 37-year-old Sandhill fisherman identified as Stanley Moris Flowers, has formally pleaded not guilty to a newly expanded set of charges.

The incident that sparked the case dates back to March 2025, when a shooting erupted outside the Fire Nightclub in Ladyville. Prosecutors originally brought only a single attempted murder charge against Flowers, alleging he targeted Corporal Manuel Chub — one of the responding officers at the scene. Chub was wounded in the exchange of gunfire and required immediate hospitalization. That single charge has since grown to five counts of attempted murder, after prosecuting officials moved to broaden the scope of the case to include all five officers who were on site during the incident.

Beyond the attempted murder charges, Flowers also faces a slate of additional criminal accusations. These include counts of aggravated assault, dangerous harm, multiple weapons-related offenses, and causing property damage to two police cruisers. The combined value of the damage to the vehicles is estimated at more than $24,000.

Flowers’ journey through the justice system has already stretched more than 18 months since the shooting. He spent nearly 12 months in pre-trial detention, or remand, before Justice Antoinette Moore approved his release on bail in March 2026. He made his first court appearance on the expanded five-count charge in the High Court on the evening of Wednesday, October 22, 2026, where he entered his formal not guilty plea.

The upcoming trial will be a judge-only proceeding overseen by Justice Nigel Pilgrim, and Flowers will be represented by defense attorney Leeroy Banner as the case moves forward. This report is adapted from a televised evening news broadcast, transcribed for online distribution.
