Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death in Barbados, responsible for roughly one in four fatalities island-wide, with nearly half of all diagnoses hitting adults during their prime working years. This public health burden does not just impact individual patients and their loved ones – it ripples through workplaces, communities, and the nation’s overall social fabric. To address this unmet need for continuous, patient-centered support, Bayview Hospital has launched the Caribbean region’s first fully virtual cancer navigation support programme, a groundbreaking initiative designed to complement local clinical care and reshape how patients experience their cancer journey.
