The road to the 2025 Saint Lucia National Cricket Association Men’s Super 50 title has narrowed to four teams, after a thrilling weekend of quarterfinal action that locked in the semifinal matchups for the coming weekend. All four remaining sides hail from the northern half of the island, guaranteeing that the 2025 tournament champion will call the north of Saint Lucia home.
The opening quarterfinal clash unfolded at the Francis Baba Lastic Ground in Gros Islet on Saturday, where the two-day competition champions Gros Islet secured a six-wicket victory over Mabouya Valley. The Mabouya Valley batting lineup was rolled for a total of 114 runs in just 25 overs, with off-spinner Tarrique Edward delivering a dominant bowling performance: he claimed four wickets while conceding only 19 runs across his four overs. Young fast bowler Darvin Forde backed Edward up with two wickets for 12 runs, while Jeandell Cyril, Bjorn Fanis, Lee John and Isaiah Jones each chipped in with one wicket apiece. Deshon Ropal topped the scoring chart for Mabouya Valley with 31 runs. Gros Islet chased down the required total in only eight overs, finishing on 118 runs for the loss of four wickets. Noelle Leo anchored the successful run chase with an unbeaten 32, while Khan Elcock contributed 29, captain Kimani Melius added 19, and Isaiah Jones closed out the innings on 14 not out. Chad Polius turned in the best bowling performance for Mabouya Valley, picking up two wickets for just two runs.
Also securing their spot in the semifinal on Saturday was the Prime Minister’s Cup-winning side Babonneau, which claimed a nine-wicket victory over Soufriere. Soufriere was bowled out for 165 runs in 29.2 overs, with Sheldon Willie leading the batting with an unbeaten 50, Xystus Emmanuel hitting 47, and Dravid Andrew adding 23. Nyeen Rosemond led Babonneau’s bowling attack with three wickets for 32 runs, while Caleb Thomas, Johnnel Eugene and Yulieski Gustave each took two wickets. In reply, Babonneau reached the 166-run target in 22.2 overs, losing just one wicket on the way. Thomas turned in an exceptional all-round display, scoring an unbeaten 79 runs from 73 deliveries, including 10 fours and three sixes. Dane Edward contributed 42 runs, and captain Qwaine Henry finished unbeaten on 33 as Babonneau sealed the win.
On Sunday at the Wenn Playing Field, South Castries posted the highest team total of the entire quarterfinal round to secure a 117-run victory over Mon Repos. South Castries compiled an imposing 299 runs for four wickets from their 34 overs, with former West Indies international Johnson Charles hitting the only century of the quarterfinal round: an unbeaten 116 runs from just 51 deliveries, powered by five fours and 13 sixes. Ephron Charles backed Charles up with a quickfire 95 runs from 80 balls, including 16 boundaries, and the pair shared a 105-run second-wicket stand with Tonius Simon, who added 34 runs. Mon Repos was bowled out for 182 runs in 28.3 overs in reply, with Keon Gaston top-scoring with 74 runs from 62 balls, and Cody Fontenelle and Dijarn Felix each contributing 26 runs. Royce Paul took four wickets for 53 runs for South Castries, with Daniel Jn Baptise and Simeon Gerson each picking up two wickets for 24 runs apiece.
Closing out the quarterfinal action at Mindoo Phillip Park, defending Super 50 champions Central Castries claimed the final semifinal spot with a 55-run victory over Micoud. The capital side posted 186 runs for eight wickets from 35 overs, with Jamaal James top-scoring with 66 runs from 92 balls. Kyle Adonis contributed a quick 50 runs from 45 deliveries, and the two put together an 85-run stand for the sixth wicket. Ted Jonas led Micoud’s bowling with four wickets for 43 runs, supported by two wickets each from Shervon Pamphille and Ammie Antoine. In reply, Micoud was dismissed for just 131 runs in 17.4 overs. Mervin Wells top-scored for Micoud with 43 runs, while Rohan Lesmond and Murlan Sammy each added 27 runs. McKenny Clarke delivered a match-winning bowling performance for Central Castries, taking five wickets for 32 runs in 5.4 overs, and Zayee Antoine backed him up with three wickets for 19 runs.
All four semifinal teams have now secured their place, with the first semifinal pitting Gros Islet against Central Castries, and the second matching Babonneau against South Castries. Both semifinal clashes will be hosted this coming weekend at Mindoo Phillip Park, as the remaining four sides compete for a spot in the tournament final and a shot at the national 50-over title.
