A devastating road collision in the Cas En Bas area of Saint Lucia has left two secondary school students with life-altering severe injuries, prompting an urgent community appeal for blood donations to support their emergency treatment. The crash unfolded shortly before 5 p.m. local time on Friday, September 18, involving four separate vehicles and three walking pedestrians, according to official statements from local law enforcement.
Police confirmed that the collision originated when a white Toyota Hilux and a black Mitsubishi Lancer, traveling in opposite directions along the roadway, crashed head-on. The force of the impact sent both careening into two construction vehicles that were legally parked along the road’s shoulder, drawing the stationary heavy machinery into the crash. As the collision unfolded, three pedestrians walking along the same stretch of road were struck by the out-of-control vehicles.
Two of the injured pedestrians have been identified as Tatiyanna Innocent and Jeanquan Jn Peirre, both enrolled at Entrepot Secondary School. Emergency responders from the Saint Lucia Fire Service documented extensive damage to the teens’ bodies: Innocent is suspected to have suffered fractures to her femur and pelvis, while Jn Peirre faced a crushing injury to his left leg alongside visible deformity to his right leg. Both teens were immediately transported to receive urgent medical care for their critical wounds.
In response to the severe injuries, Entrepot Secondary School issued a public appeal via social media over the weekend, calling on eligible community members to donate blood specifically for the two students. The school’s statement directed potential donors to the Blood Bank at Owen King Hospital, which accepts donations between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Donors are requested to clearly mark which student their donation is intended for when checking in to give blood.
Authorities also confirmed one additional casualty from the crash: an adult male who was driving one of the four involved vehicles. The driver suffered head trauma from the collision, but emergency responders say he refused transport to a hospital for formal treatment. As of Monday, September 20, local law enforcement has not released further details on the crash, including potential contributing factors such as speeding, poor weather conditions, or impaired driving.
