DOMDA invites young people to ‘Sip & Chat’ on health and wellness

Nonprofit organization focused on diabetes care and education, the Dominica Diabetes Association (DOMDA), is launching a targeted community initiative to bring young Dominicans together for candid, open dialogues around interconnected health, relationship and personal development topics. As outlined in an official press statement from the association, the new event, branded “Sip & Chat”, is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the popular Roseau venue The Realm. Attendees will be able to enter starting at 4:30 p.m., with the official discussion running from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

This gathering is explicitly designed for young people between the ages of 16 and 35, and it will center on the overarching theme “Real Conversations. A Healthier Tomorrow.” DOMDA officials explain that the event was crafted to build a low-pressure, welcoming space where youth can share openly about the wide range of issues that impact both their physical and emotional well-being, a contrast to more formal, clinical health education settings that can feel intimidating to many young people.

The curated list of discussion topics spans critical, often underdiscussed health areas for young demographics: blood sugar literacy and diabetes awareness, mental health maintenance, healthy sexuality and romantic relationships, building personal confidence, and the importance of tracking key health metrics (often referred to as “knowing your numbers”). For DOMDA, this event is far more than a one-off gathering; it is a core part of the organization’s expanded outreach strategy to deliver accessible health education, social encouragement, and collective empowerment to young people across Dominica, while guiding them toward intentional, informed conversations about sustainable, healthier lifestyle choices.

Beyond the panel and open discussion segments, the event will also introduce attendees to DOMDA’s Young Ambassadors Club, a youth leadership program that empowers young participants to lead grassroots health promotion efforts in their own communities. Through the club, members work to spread public awareness of diabetes and its linked chronic health conditions, while encouraging peers to adopt long-term healthy habits. Event organizers note that spaces for the September 30 gathering are strictly limited, and admission is set at EC$25 per person.

Tickets are available for purchase directly from the DOMDA headquarters located at 30 McIntyre Lane in Goodwill. Interested individuals who cannot visit the office in person can also reserve spots by reaching out via WhatsApp or telephone to 767-225-5178, or by contacting the secondary line at 767-245-8251. In closing, DOMDA has issued a public call to all young people within the target age bracket to take advantage of this unique, informal opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue that supports long-term health and personal growth.
