Imagistic Counselling Celebrates 15 Years of Hope, Healing and Community

Fifteen years ago, a small mental health initiative launched in Antigua and Barbuda with a bold mission: to break long-standing stigma around mental health care and make compassionate, professional support accessible to every member of the community. Today, that initiative—Imagistic Counselling—stands as a cornerstone of wellness across the twin-island nation, celebrating 15 years of delivering hope, facilitating healing, and building a more connected, mentally healthy society.

From individual adults navigating personal stress to couples working through relationship conflict, from youth facing developmental challenges to entire families seeking stronger bonds, Imagistic Counselling has built its reputation on a flexible, client-first approach that meets people where they are. Under the leadership of founder Aurica Williams-Edwards, a certified counselling psychologist and educator with a Master of Arts (Honours) in Counselling Psychology from an accredited institution, the organization has expanded its service offerings to address the full spectrum of community mental health needs.

Its portfolio of care extends far beyond traditional one-on-one talk therapy, encompassing couple counselling, group therapy, and creative therapeutic approaches tailored to diverse client needs. It also delivers specialized services including Employee Assistance Programmes for local workplaces, conflict resolution training, stress management coaching, grief and loss support, career assessment and professional guidance, youth-focused counselling, family therapy, parenting skill building, and organizational mental health consultation.

What has remained consistent throughout 15 years of growth is the organization’s core advocacy: the belief that mental health care is an essential component of overall health, not an afterthought. For generations, open conversations about mental wellbeing were rare across Antigua and Barbuda, leaving many people to suffer in silence out of fear of judgment or misunderstanding. Imagistic Counselling has worked steadily to change that narrative, encouraging residents to reach out for support before small challenges escalate into overwhelming crises. It has repeatedly emphasized that asking for professional help is not a sign of weakness—it is an act of intentional self-care, courage, and strength that benefits individuals, their loved ones, and the entire community.

As the organization marks its 15th anniversary, leadership extended sincere gratitude to the stakeholders that have made its work possible: the clients who trusted the team with their most vulnerable struggles, corporate partners that collaborated to bring mental health support to workplaces, local community organizations that aligned on shared goals, professional colleagues that offered guidance and collaboration, and all supporters that have stood by the initiative over 15 years of change.

Looking back on 15 years of transformed lives and shifting cultural attitudes toward mental health, Imagistic Counselling reaffirms its founding commitment to compassionate, accessible care, with a renewed vision for fostering healthier individuals, stronger connected relationships, and more resilient communities across Antigua and Barbuda. After a decade and a half of progress, the organization’s core message remains unchanged: healing is within reach, help is available, and mental health deserves a permanent place at the center of the nation’s healthcare agenda.
