As the Antigua and Barbuda senior men’s national football team ramps up preparations for a slate of upcoming competitive fixtures, the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association has officially announced a 25-player local training roster to kickstart the next phase of development.
The selection process strikes a deliberate balance between veteran experience and youthful potential, marking a clear transition pathway for emerging prospects coming through the country’s youth development system. A number of rising stars who recently competed with the national Under-20 program have earned their first call-ups to the senior training group, giving young talent a critical opportunity to prove themselves at the highest level of domestic football.
Local top-flight clubs are well-represented across the squad, with two leading sides leading the count of selected players. All Saints United secured five spots in the training group, with Zafique Drew, DeAndre Bishop, Raheem Deterville, Jayden Martin and Vaughn Jackson Jr. all receiving call-ups. Grenades FC also matched that haul, sending five players: Elijah Whyte, Jahzihno Ogarro, Shakore Simon, Leroy Graham and Quinton Griffith.
Other prominent domestic clubs also contributed players to the roster. Three players from Garden Stars — Tariq Charles, Sadique Adams and Kemoy Walsh — earned selection, while FC Aston Villa placed two athletes, Tyrik Hughes and Dajari Barthley, on the initial squad. The remaining picks round out a cross-section of top domestic talent from across the league: Keon Green and Jamour Martin from Potters, Akeem Isaac from Pigotts Bullets SC, Shelon Knight from Swetes, Obediah Browne from Old Road FC, Karique Knight from Cayon FC, Zaieem Scott from Green City, Kwame Kirby from FC Aston Villa, Brandon Stachel from Master Ballers, and Daryl Massicot from Cavaliers SC.
Under the guidance of the senior national team’s full technical staff, the selected group will begin formal training sessions ahead of upcoming national team commitments. ABFA officials note that additional updates regarding extended training schedules, confirmed competitive fixtures, and broader announcements about the senior national team’s annual program will be released to the public in the coming weeks. The first training session is scheduled to get underway at 6:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday.
