Verdachte dodelijke roofoverval David Simonsstraat ingerekend

Paramaribo, Suriname – On November 6, local law enforcement officials announced they have taken a suspect into custody as part of an ongoing investigation into a deadly armed robbery that unfolded on a busy Paramaribo street intersection on a recent Friday morning. The apprehended individual, identified only by the initials T.V., was detained during a coordinated multi-unit police operation targeting a pre-vetted location, while authorities confirm additional suspects linked to the violent incident remain at large. The brazen fatal attack took place at the crossing of David Simonsstraat and Wilhelminastraat at approximately 9:30 a.m., according to official details released by police spokesperson Michel Elskamp. The victim, identified by the initials C.H., was traveling with a second occupant in a white Toyota Prado, heading in the direction of Anton Dragtenweg, when they were forced to a halt at the intersection by a vehicle stopped ahead of them. As that lead vehicle pulled away, a white Toyota Vitz approached from behind and blocked the Prado’s escape route. Three masked, armed men immediately exited the smaller vehicle and advanced on the victims’ SUV. The assailants smashed the Prado’s windows, pried open the driver’s side door, and seized a black bag containing cash. During the chaotic confrontation, C.H. sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. The perpetrators then fled the location in the getaway Vitz, making off with a haul consisting of both U.S. dollars and Surinamese dollars, though exact total of the stolen funds has not yet been verified by investigators. The targeted operation that led to T.V.’s arrest involved a collaborative effort across multiple specialized police divisions: the Major Crimes unit, the Paramaribo Regional Assistance Team, the Arrest Team, and the Criminal Intelligence Unit. Elskamp emphasized that investigative efforts remain fully active to track down and take the remaining suspects into custody, with the full scope of the case still being processed. Authorities stated they will release further relevant details to the public as soon as information is cleared for disclosure.
