Politievoertuig rijdt door rood en botst tegen twee auto’s; drie personen naar SEH

On October 26 at 16:34 local time, a road traffic collision involving an official patrol vehicle assigned to the Mid-Division Criminal Investigation Department resulted in three people being rushed to the emergency department of a local hospital via ambulance, local news outlet StarNieuws reports. One of the injured parties is Bryan Isaacs, the former head of the national police corps. The crash involved three separate vehicles: a Toyota Yaris, a Toyota Hilux, and a Musso brand police service vehicle. Isaacs was operating the Toyota Yaris at the time of the incident, while a civilian identified only by the initials M.B. was behind the wheel of the Hilux. The police vehicle was driven by a serving officer attached to the Mid-Division Criminal Investigation Department, with two additional officers riding as passengers inside the patrol car. All three injured people — the two officers who were passengers in the police vehicle, as well as former police chief Isaacs — were transported immediately to the hospital’s emergency unit to receive urgent medical assessment and treatment. Preliminary accounts from on-scene information indicate that the police patrol car was travelling with its emergency flashing lights activated when it drove through a red traffic signal, resulting in a collision that struck both the other two vehicles. The national police force has confirmed that a full formal investigation into the exact sequence of events, contributing factors and liability for the crash is currently underway, with no additional details released to the public as the probe progresses.
