A low-rise residential home located on Tangibaweg in Lelydorp has been completely destroyed by an intense fire that broke out Thursday afternoon, leaving both the structure and all personal belongings inside a total loss. Local authorities have activated the Forensic Investigation Service to probe the exact origins and circumstances of the blaze.
According to official reports, the Lelydorp District Police received the emergency call alerting them to the fire at approximately 1:38 p.m., and officers immediately dispatched local fire crews to the scene. When first responders arrived, they confirmed the fire was engulfing a concrete single-story home that measures roughly 35 by 20 meters in total size.
A neighbor who witnessed the start of the fire told investigators she first saw sparks coming from the roof of the residence. Within moments, the entire roof caught fire, and the flames spread rapidly through the structure before it could be fully contained. By the time fire crews brought the blaze under control, the home was already completely destroyed.
The property was home to two residents: a man and a woman. As of the latest update, the woman, who is the only surviving resident, is currently staying in the Netherlands while the investigation moves forward. Forensic investigators are now working systematically to piece together what caused the fire, examining evidence from the charred remains of the home to determine whether the blaze was accidental or caused by other factors.
