Four Men Ransack Burrell Boom Home, Steal SUV

Authorities in Belize are moving forward with an investigation into a violent early-morning aggravated burglary that took place in Burrell Boom Village earlier this month, with police confirming they have recovered the stolen vehicle and detained two people of interest connected to the crime. The break-in unfolded around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, when a homeowner was stirred from sleep by unusual noises inside his property.

According to official statements from Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith, when the resident got up to investigate the disturbance, he was immediately confronted by one of the intruders, who assaulted him before holding him restrained. While the victim was immobilized, three other intruders methodically ransacked the residence, making off with a haul that includes an undisclosed sum of cash, personal jewelry, a cell phone, and the homeowner’s Toyota SUV.

Following the filing of the official report by the victim at the local police substation, law enforcement launched a manhunt for the suspects and the stolen vehicle. Acting on gathered intelligence, patrol officers spotted the stolen SUV in the area of Santa Familia just before midday on Thursday, October 15. A vehicle pursuit was initiated immediately after the officers identified the SUV, but the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot before they could be apprehended.

Police have since taken the recovered SUV into evidence processing, where forensic teams are currently working to lift fingerprints and other genetic trace evidence from the vehicle in the hopes of identifying all four suspects involved in the break-in and assault. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to track down the remaining fugitives and prosecute all those connected to the crime.
