Traffic delay: Halifax Street, St George’s

Motorists and local residents in St George’s, Grenada, are being put on advance notice of upcoming temporary traffic disruptions that will impact a key stretch of road in the city center. The Traffic Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) has officially announced that vehicle movement along Halifax Street, in the section adjacent to the traffic light intersection, will experience significant delays on Sunday, 11 October 2026, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

According to the official statement released from the Office of the Commissioner of Police, this temporary hold-up in regular traffic flow is an unavoidable part of critical infrastructure upgrade work. Local contracting firm Grenada Pavement Construction Ltd. has been commissioned to carry out resurfacing and repair works on this section of road, a project designed to improve long-term road safety and driving conditions for all road users.

In its public advisory, the RGPF extended a sincere apology to drivers, commuters, and local businesses that may be inconvenienced by the schedule of works. Law enforcement officials also noted that they appreciate the public’s advance understanding, patience, and cooperation as the infrastructure project moves forward, and urged motorists to plan alternate routes in advance of the work date to avoid unplanned wait times.
