To mark this year’s World Alzheimer’s Day, which falls on September 21, the iconic State House building will be bathed in purple light from dawn until dusk across four consecutive days, running from September 18 to September 21.
Purple has long been the internationally recognized color representing dementia awareness, and this visual display is far more than just a decorative gesture. It is a core part of a global movement that seeks to destigmatize Alzheimer’s disease and all other forms of dementia, while bringing critical public attention to the challenges faced by affected communities worldwide.
Organizers behind the initiative emphasize that the glowing purple facade of State House serves as a constant reminder: no individual has to face the impact of dementia in isolation.
