As 29-year-old Dorien Browne continues to receive critical medical treatment at Antigua and Barbuda’s primary public care facility, Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, his loved ones have put out an urgent, heartfelt call for community support to save his life.
The appeal, first circulated to local communities over the weekend, lays out the immediate need for eligible donors to step forward to give blood for Browne’s ongoing care. In a moving statement shared widely across local social networks and community groups Saturday, Browne’s family opened up about the stress and uncertainty the entire household is navigating right now.
“This is an incredibly difficult and worrying chapter for our whole family,” the statement reads. “We are clinging to prayer and holding out hope that our community will come together to carry him through this crisis.”
Beyond calling on healthy, eligible people to donate blood directly at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, the family emphasized that community members who cannot give blood themselves still have a critical role to play.
