Campos emphasized that what makes the Dominican Republic particularly notable across the Latin American and Caribbean region is the consistent outspokenness of its population when it comes to upholding their faith and core religious values. “I feel that the Dominican Republic is the model in the region,” she stated during the wide-ranging conversation, which touched on the intersections of belief, cultural identity, family structure, democratic governance, and public participation.
The U.S. envoy went on to express her sincere hope that Dominican communities will continue to guard the foundational elements of their national character, chief among them their widespread devotion to Christianity.
