Tony Fontaine Charged in Sunny Limited Break-In, $53,000 Larceny Case

Officials from the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda have confirmed formal charges against a 40-year-old local man in connection with a high-value commercial burglary that rocked a St. John’s business earlier this month. In an official media statement released by the force’s Office of Strategic Communications on August 17, 2026, Tony Fontaine, a resident of Grays Farm, faces three separate criminal counts stemming from the break-in at Long Street retailer Sunny Limited.

Investigative records show the unauthorized entry and subsequent theft took place between August 10 and August 11, while the establishment was closed for operation. When staff returned to the location, they discovered a wide-ranging haul of stolen inventory and fixed assets had been taken from the premises. The stolen property catalog includes athletic and casual footwear, assorted apparel including denim jeans, school and travel luggage, portable audio speakers, solar-powered lighting and radios, a full-sized washing machine, a stand-alone refrigerator, a point-of-sale card processing machine, children’s hygiene and personal care items, and two digital video recorder (DVR) units for the location’s security system.

The cumulative estimated value of all stolen goods totals approximately 53,201 Eastern Caribbean dollars. Beyond the theft, Fontaine is also accused of deliberately disabling and damaging the business’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) network during the incident, causing an additional 50,000 Eastern Caribbean dollars in malicious damage. Combined, the total loss to the business exceeds 103,000 Eastern Caribbean dollars.

As of the media release’s publication, Fontaine has already been taken into police custody and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on August 17 to respond to the charges of breaking and entering, grand larceny, and malicious property damage.
