Fresh off ending a 13-year wait for a major competitive title, the Under-15 cricket squad from Saint Lucia’s Corinth Secondary School is not resting on its newfound success. Instead, the team is pushing its development forward with an ambitious 10-day cross-regional tour of Trinidad & Tobago, aiming to turn its breakthrough win into long-term growth for the program.
The young cricketers departed their home island of Saint Lucia this Sunday, set to carry the country’s flag across five scheduled matches against regional opponents: three 50-over contests and two Twenty20 fixtures, hosted across two cities, El Dorado and Chaguanas. The tour has been organized as a collaborative initiative between Corinth Secondary and Trinidad and Tobago’s Keston Lewis Cricket Academy, a program led by a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) coaching professional that brings high-quality competitive opportunities to emerging youth talent.
Corinth Secondary’s historic 2025 Under-15 Schools 40-Over title win marked the program’s first major championship since 2012, ending a decades-long title drought. Three standout national team players were instrumental to that breakthrough victory: Daniel Lorde, who notched 33 runs in the final against Choiseul; Nicken Justin, who delivered a dominant bowling performance of four wickets for just 20 runs; and Yorick Joseph, whose steady batting anchored the team’s middle order through the pressure of the final match. To strengthen the touring squad for higher-level competition, Corinth has added two extra talented players from other leading local secondary schools: Kaleb Charles from Leon Hess Comprehensive and Jean Claude Emmanuel from St Mary’s College.
In an official statement released ahead of the tour, the Corinth Secondary program framed the cross-regional trip as a transformative developmental milestone for its young athletes. “The tour offers our young cricketers an outstanding opportunity to compete against quality opposition, sharpen their skills and gain invaluable match experience in a highly competitive environment,” the statement read.
The tour’s partner, Keston Lewis Cricket Academy, is helmed by Keston Lewis, assistant bowling coach for the CPL’s Trinidad & Tobago Knight Riders. Lewis’ professional background in top-tier franchise cricket gives the visiting Saint Lucian players unique access to insight and coaching from someone with direct experience in elite Caribbean cricket, a benefit that extends far beyond the on-field matches.
Lewis extended a warm welcome to the touring contingent, saying, “We wish the players, coaches and supporters of Corinth Secondary School a successful and enjoyable tour and look forward to building lasting cricketing relationships through this exciting initiative.”
For Corinth Secondary’s physical education department, the ultimate goal of the tour is to prepare the program for stronger performances in upcoming national Under-15 and Under-19 competitions next school year. The program already got a taste of the stiff competition it will face in the 2026 Under-19 tournament, where Corinth went up against seasoned, talented squads from Leon Hess Comprehensive and the Saint Lucia Sports Academy.
