Brazen Afternoon Attack by Unknown Assailant Leaves Former Miss Antigua and Barbuda and TikTok Content Creator Traumatized

A well-known local public figure and digital content creator in Antigua and Barbuda was the target of a brazen daylight violent robbery on a busy main thoroughfare earlier this week. Leanda Ann Norville, who claimed the national Miss Antigua and Barbuda title in 2016 and has built a sizable following on social media platform TikTok, sustained multiple lacerations and physical trauma in the unprovoked attack that unfolded along Five Islands Main Road on Monday afternoon.

The 35-year-old shared details of the harrowing ordeal with local law enforcement, explaining that she was following her long-established daily routine: making the walk from her Hatton residence to the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus for a regular outdoor workout. She had her headphones on as she traveled the route, and initially paid no special attention to a man walking toward her from the opposite direction, as nothing about his behavior struck her as suspicious at first. Just as the two were about to pass one another, however, the man abruptly crossed the roadway, lunged at her, wrapped his hands around her neck in a choking grip, and threw her forcefully onto the pavement.

Norville fought back fiercely and screamed for assistance, but multiple passing vehicles initially drove past without stopping to intervene. During the violent scuffle, the unknown assailant pulled out a sharp bladed object, and cut her on the waist and hands as she tried to shield herself from further harm. The attacker stole her gold chain, smartphone, and wireless headphones before fleeing the scene, but only after a compassionate female motorist pulled over to step in and help. A second male driver also stopped moments later to offer support to the injured Norville.

The female good samaritan immediately placed a call to officers at the Gray’s Farm Police Station, who dispatched patrol units to the location without delay to conduct a sweeping search of the nearby overgrown bushes where the suspect had fled. Norville and both of the citizen witnesses provided formal recorded statements to investigators to support the case. Law enforcement officials have publicly confirmed that the attack remains an open, active investigation as of press time, with no arrests announced to date.

Collet Amin, Norville’s mother, told local reporters that she is profoundly relieved her daughter escaped the incident with her life, even though she remains badly shaken by the traumatic experience. “I am thankful my daughter is okay, as the situation could have been much worse,” Amin shared. Norville and her entire family have also issued a public message of gratitude to the two motorists who paused to intervene during the assault, praising their quick action and willingness to put themselves at risk to help a stranger in crisis.
