A routine commute along a residential Orange Walk District street has ended in fatal tragedy, after a van turning across a travel lane collided head-on with an oncoming motorcyclist who later succumbed to his injuries in hospital care.
The September 14 crash occurred on Munoz Street, where 52-year-old Antonio Novelo, operating a white van, pulled into the path of Lorenzo Castro’s moving motorcycle, according to senior law enforcement officials overseeing the investigation. Castro, who police confirmed was operating an unlicensed, uninsured motorcycle, suffered catastrophic internal and blunt force trauma in the impact.
