Rotary Club of Antigua Marks Start of 54th Anniversary Week with Call to Service and Lasting Impact

On Sunday, September 6, the Rotary Club of Antigua kicked off its 54th Anniversary Week with a moving inaugural service at Ebenezer Methodist Church, bringing together current and past members to give thanks and reflect on more than 50 years of dedicated service to the people of Antigua and Barbuda.

Speaking on behalf of the entire organization, Club President Anastasia Wilson paid tribute to the generations of Rotarians whose collective dedication, commitment to fellowship, and unwavering service have built the club’s enduring legacy. She also issued a call to action for current members, urging them to keep pushing forward to deliver meaningful, sustainable progress for local communities.

The week-long celebration, running from September 6 to 12, carries the unifying theme “54 Years of Service Above Self – Creating Lasting Impact,” aligned with Rotary’s global guiding principle of prioritizing community good over individual interest. The full schedule of events caters to multiple pillars of community support, starting with Media Day on September 7, designed to connect the club’s work with local and regional audiences. Next up, on September 8, club volunteers will host Peace Literacy Reading Sessions for students at local primary schools, investing in the next generation through education and values-based learning. The 54th Anniversary Dinner Meeting will follow on September 9, bringing members together to celebrate milestones and strengthen fellowship.

On September 10, Rotarians will turn their attention to elder care, spending Volunteer Day supporting residents and staff at the Fiennes Institute. The following day, September 11, the club will extend its reach across the water to Barbuda, where it will host a free community eye screening initiative to expand access to critical health services for Barbuda residents.

The anniversary week will conclude on September 12 with the Caribbean Wellness Day Glow Walk 2026, a collaborative event that brings together the Rotary Club of Antigua, the Rotary Club of Antigua Sundown, the Rotaract Club of Antigua, and local Interact Clubs. Organizers have opened the event to all members of the public, encouraging widespread participation under the walk’s own theme: “Engage, Empower, Elevate: Working Together to Improve Health and Wellbeing for All.” Registration for the Glow Walk is priced at $20 per participant, and all attendees are automatically entered into a raffle with prizes including a fresh fruit basket, a home blood pressure monitor, and a finger pulse oximeter.

Looking ahead to the organization’s 55th year of service, President Wilson closed with a reflective, forward-looking message rooted in the club’s core values. “As we look ahead, may we continue to serve with humility, may our Club continue to be a light in the community, a source of encouragement to those in need and a reminder that small acts of service can bring great blessings as we strive to create lasting impact,” she said.

For five and a half decades, the Rotary Club of Antigua has advanced community development across Antigua and Barbuda through targeted projects and cross-sector partnerships spanning education, public health, youth development, and local community support. All of its work is rooted in Rotary’s longstanding foundational value: Service Above Self.
