Competing against a stacked lineup of top international sailors, Tyson held consistent, high-performing races across the event to secure the second-place overall position, a result that cements his reputation as one of the most competitive kiteboarding athletes on the global circuit.
Antigua and Barbuda sent a three-person sailing delegation to the Games, and Tyson’s two teammates both turned in impressive top-eight finishes against stiff competition, even amid late-game adversity for one competitor. In the men’s ILCA 7 division, Shanoy Malone wrapped up competition in eighth place overall. The division’s starting field included a number of the world’s highest-ranked ILCA 7 sailors: the top three finishers all held spots in the global top 70 rankings, and every single competitor that placed ahead of Malone had prior Olympic racing experience, making his top-eight result an notable achievement for the young sailor.
