National Statistics Division Launches Media Blitz to Boost Census Registration

Fresh off the conclusion of 2026’s national Carnival celebrations, government statistics officials in Antigua and Barbuda have shifted full focus to a major public outreach campaign, set to kick off across the twin-island nation on Monday, August 10, 2026.

For nearly 11 months, the country’s population and housing registration drive has been underway, but outreach organizers report that gaps in public awareness remain around the process. To close these gaps, the National Statistics Division has organized a week-long multi-media push, featuring appearances by representatives of the National Housing and Population Committee on both radio and television networks across the country. Division leadership is urging all residents to tune in to local media outlets throughout the week to learn key details about the ongoing registration process.

The campaign’s first day will feature a stacked lineup of official guest appearances. Deputy Census Officer Tracelyn Joseph and project staffer Debbie Barnes will open the schedule with an interview on ABS Television’s flagship morning program *Good Morning Antigua and Barbuda*. Later that same evening, immediately following the network’s nightly national news broadcast, the campaign will continue with a primetime panel segment. Isokee Perry and Martin Cave, both members of the National Advisory and Technical Committee overseeing the census, will join as featured guests, with National Bureau of Statistics Director Statchel Edwards also scheduled to appear on the program.

To extend the reach of the outreach effort beyond broadcast appearances, the National Statistics Division has also partnered with local creative entities Kiron21 and Kid Fresh to develop a series of targeted promotional advertisements that will run alongside official guest segments throughout the week.
