Salvation Army Seeks $100,000 for Christmas Relief

On November 6, 2026, the Salvation Army’s annual beloved Red Kettle Campaign officially kicked off in Belize City, with a modest drizzle failing to dim the infectious spirit of collective goodwill that defines the holiday charity drive. This year’s fundraising goal is set at $100,000, earmarked to deliver tailored Christmas support to over 1,000 vulnerable local residents, including low-income children, struggling working families, and isolated senior citizens. Every dollar dropped into the iconic red collection kettles will go directly toward covering hot holiday meals, age-appropriate toys for young recipients, and practical living vouchers to ease end-of-year financial strains for households stretched thin by rising living costs.

For Major Marc Eddy Momplaisir, District Officer for the Belize City Salvation Army, the bright red kettles are far more than simple collection vessels. “When you look at the Salvation Army Kettle, don’t just see the small pot, but see the big hope it carries. Whenever you give, bear in your mind, you support a child; you support a family that is struggling. Your donation is meaningful. Don’t say that, ‘okay, I am not rich’. You don’t have to be rich to make a difference. You just need a willing heart to care for others. We are expecting that you will come and support the Salvation Army,” Momplaisir emphasized during the launch event.

The campaign received its first official donation boost from the Belize City Council, which contributed $500 to kickstart fundraising efforts. Councilor Stephanne Hamilton echoed the call for widespread community participation, noting that every contribution, no matter how small, carries profound weight. “I kindly appeal to the public that whenever you see the pot, if you notice the pot is red, it’s about love, hope, and joy. So, I ask the community to kindly donate,” Hamilton shared with local reporters.

Over the remaining weeks leading up to Christmas, the signature red kettles and volunteer bell ringers will be stationed at high-foot-traffic locations across the city. Confirmed permanent collection points include Brodies, the two Publics Supermarket locations on Northern Highway and the Boulevard, Angelous Press, Golden Bay, Save U Supermarket, and the popular Tourism Village, with the Salvation Army team actively negotiating to add more local businesses to the roster of host sites. Even with an ambitious fundraising target on the horizon, organizers stress that no contribution is too insignificant: a single dollar, when multiplied by thousands of generous community members, can add up to life-changing holiday relief for neighbors in need. Organizers have confirmed that volunteers will keep their bells ringing rain or shine through the holiday season, as they invite all Belizeans to join the effort and fill the red kettles not just with spare change, but with tangible hope for vulnerable residents across the city.
