A collaborative community support initiative between Chinese partners and Antigua and Barbuda’s Social Protection Board has successfully delivered donated meals to hundreds of vulnerable members of the public across the twin-island nation, marking a new milestone in people-to-people cooperation between the two countries.
Working alongside Social Protection Board staff, the Chinese team assisted with every stage of the distribution process, from sorting and packaging meal parcels to coordinating logistics for deliveries to hard-to-reach neighborhoods. The on-the-ground partnership not only expanded the board’s operational capacity but also ensured that no eligible resident was left without access to the food support they needed.
Emily Baltimore, Operations Manager of the Social Protection Board, praised the initiative as an unqualified success in a recent statement, noting that every recipient who received a meal parcel shared warm gratitude for the timely support. For many low-income families, elderly residents, and individuals facing temporary economic hardship, the donated meals have provided critical relief at a time of ongoing community need.
Baltimore specifically emphasized that the partnership enabled the Social Protection Board to extend its reach to groups of vulnerable residents that would otherwise have been difficult to access with the board’s limited existing resources. She extended formal thanks to the Chinese Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda and the entire participating Chinese team for their generous contribution and committed work on the ground.
Looking ahead, the Social Protection Board has expressed clear optimism that this successful collaboration will open the door to more joint community support projects in the future, bringing greater assistance to more residents across Antigua and Barbuda.
