In the early hours of Thursday, two violent, armed robberies targeting moped riders unfolded just over an hour apart across two locations in the Netherlands, leaving both victims injured, local law enforcement confirmed. The incidents took place in the vicinity of Bungalowpark and at the intersection of Lachmanweg and Ramgoelamweg, with perpetrators wielding firearms and a knife in separate attacks. The first robbery was called in to emergency services at approximately 2:23 a.m. near Bungalowpark. According to police spokesperson Michel Elskamp, the victim was ambushed by a group of six male offenders, who traveled to the scene on three separate mopeds. Two of the six attackers wore face coverings to conceal their identities, and one carried a handgun.
After assaulting the victim, the group forcibly stole a MINFF-brand moped before fleeing the area toward the neighborhood of Latour. The victim suffered physical abuse in the attack, and reported severe head pain following the incident. More than 60 minutes later, at roughly 3:40 a.m., local police received a second report of a moped robbery at the Lachmanweg-Ramgoelamweg intersection. In this second incident, two male offenders held up the victim — one armed with a knife, and the second also carrying a handgun. The pair stole the victim’s blue moped, then fled in the direction of Knikkerstraat. The victim in this attack sustained scrapes and bruising to their left forearm.
As of Thursday morning’s initial reporting, law enforcement has not yet confirmed whether the two robberies are linked. Authorities also have not announced whether any suspects have been taken into custody, and no further updates on the investigation have been released to the public at this time.
