Residents of Grenada are currently facing interruptions to a range of online government services, after an unplanned outage impacted several key government digital systems and platforms, officials from the Government of Grenada and regional telecommunications provider Digicel Group have confirmed.
The joint announcement from both entities confirms that cross-functional technical teams from the government’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) division and Digicel have already mobilized, working around the clock in close coordination to pinpoint the root cause of the disruption and deploy full fixes to bring all affected platforms back online as rapidly as possible.
To mitigate the impact of the outage on public access to essential services, all government departments affected by the outage have already activated contingency manual workflow protocols. These backup procedures are designed to keep critical public services operational where feasible, though officials have acknowledged that users may still experience unavoidable delays in processing compared to the standard digital service delivery timeline.
Carvel Lett, Secretary to the Cabinet of Grenada, emphasized the urgency the government is placing on resolving the issue, noting that the ICT division has elevated the outage to the highest priority level with all relevant service providers. He confirmed that all available resources have been allocated to ensure remedial work is completed with the maximum possible speed.
Joel Wallace, Chief Executive Officer of Digicel Grenada, echoed this commitment in a statement, reiterating that Digicel’s technical specialists are fully embedded with government teams to diagnose and resolve the outage. “Our entire focus right now is on restoring normal service delivery for the public,” Wallace said. “We greatly value the collaborative approach between our two teams, and we thank residents for their patience as we work through this issue.”
Officials confirmed that additional updates on the status of service restoration will be released promptly through official government communication channels as new information becomes available. The Government of Grenada has issued an apology for the inconvenience the outage has caused to residents and businesses, and extended its gratitude to the public for their patience and understanding while the repair work is ongoing.
