A violent early-morning altercation in Barbados’ St Peter district has ended in tragedy, leaving a 31-year-old woman dead and a second female detained for questioning by law enforcement. The fatal stabbing unfolded shortly before 4 a.m. on Saturday in the Maynard Housing Area neighborhood, according to local police reports.
Authorities at the District ‘E’ Police Station confirmed that the victim has been formally identified by a family member as Mesha Cherese Pierre, a resident of Sugar Hill, St Joseph. Early investigative findings outline that a crowd of local residents had gathered in the area when tensions boiled over into a physical confrontation between the two women. During the dispute, Pierre sustained multiple deep stab wounds.
Witnesses and bystanders rushed Pierre to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital via a private vehicle for emergency medical care, but medical teams were unable to save her, and she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival from her injuries.
In the wake of the fatal incident, local law enforcement has launched a public appeal for community assistance to advance their investigation. Police are urging any individual who was present in the Maynard Housing Area between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. Saturday, or anyone who holds details that could help identify a motive or clarify the sequence of events, to contact authorities through multiple confidential channels. Tips can be submitted anonymously to the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1800-8477, the national Police Emergency line at 211, or directly to the District ‘E’ Police Station at either 419-1730 or 419-1731.
