One of the most anticipated annual swimming competitions in the Eastern Caribbean is making its comeback next year, with the Grenfin Swim Club Invitational Meet set to take over Good Hope Swimming Pool in St. Paul’s from September 24 to 27, 2026. Organizers have confirmed that long-standing partner LUCOZADE, Huggins Grenada will return as the event’s title sponsor for the 10th year in a row, marking a decade of consistent support for regional competitive swimming.
As a staple fixture on the national swimming calendar, this four-day competition carries dual significance for the local swimming community. Beyond being Grenfin Swim Club’s largest annual fundraising initiative, the invitational also serves as the official selection trial for the OECS National Swim Team. Local swimmers across all categories have spent months ramping up their training regimens, putting in grueling daily practice sessions to compete for one of just 34 coveted spots on the regional squad. The athletes that earn selection will go on to represent the tri-island state of Grenada at the 34th OECS Swimming Championships, scheduled to run from November 6 to 8, 2026 at St. Lucia’s Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre.
Heading into the selection trials and subsequent regional championships, Grenada enters the competition cycle as the defending overall titleholder, putting a target on their back as they prepare to face off against the top competitive swimmers from every OECS member nation.
Organizers have released the full daily schedule for the 2026 invitational meet to help spectators and participants plan their attendance. On the opening two days, September 24 and 25, warm-up sessions will begin at 4:00 p.m., with the first races kicking off at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, September 26 will start earlier, with warm-ups commencing at 7:30 a.m., competition getting underway at 9:30 a.m., and the event’s official opening ceremony scheduled for 10:00 a.m. The final day of competition on Sunday, September 27 will see warm-ups begin at 8:00 a.m., with racing resuming at the same 9:30 a.m. start time as Saturday.
Grenfin Swim Club has expressed excitement for the upcoming event, noting that the 2026 Invitational Meet is on track to deliver four days of electrifying racing, standout athletic performances, and exemplary sportsmanship from every competing athlete. Local swimming fans and community members are encouraged to attend the event at Good Hope Swimming Pool to cheer on emerging regional talent.
