Nassau, Bahamas – Months of collective bargaining between the Bahamas Union of Teachers (BUT) and the national government have broken down into open confrontation, after the administration reintroduced a salary package union leaders already rejected earlier in negotiations. BUT President Belinda Wilson made the impasse public during an orientation event this week for over 100 newly hired educators across the country, outlining the union’s core demands and criticizing the government’s negotiating posture as bad-faith.
