Christ Church man charged with assisting offender

A 34-year-old resident of Christ Church, Barbados, is facing multiple criminal charges, including assisting a known offender and several road traffic violations, after a law enforcement operation that unfolded earlier this month. According to official statements from The Barbados Police Service (TBPS), the agency’s Serious Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) took the suspect, Miguel Rico Ranaldo Daniel, who lives at Thornbury Hill in the parish, into custody before formally laying the charges against him.

Court documents show the most serious charge filed against Daniel centers on allegations that he provided assistance to Tyrese Farrell, another individual wanted by Barbadian law enforcement. Beyond the charge of aiding an offender, Daniel has also been cited for three separate traffic-related offenses. These violations include failing to bring his vehicle to a stop when emergency sirens sounded, operating a motor vehicle without the required level of care and attention, and driving in a manner that showed no reasonable consideration for the safety of other road users sharing the roadway.

Police confirmed that all five offenses Daniel is accused of committing took place on August 16. Following his processing at a TBPS facility, the 34-year-old has been ordered to make his first court appearance on Tuesday at the Oistins Magistrates’ Court, where the case will be formally opened and preliminary procedural steps will take place. As of the latest updates from law enforcement, no further details about the context of Daniel’s alleged assistance to Farrell have been released to the public, and the full circumstances of the traffic stop and subsequent arrest remain under investigation.
