A rising star in Caribbean cricket, former West Indies Under-19 skipper Kimani Melius has taken a major step forward in his professional career by signing a representation deal with Powett Elite Group, a leading Caribbean-based sports and lifestyle talent agency. The 25-year-old batsman now joins a roster of top regional and international cricket talent as he works to cement his place at the upper levels of the sport.
Melius first emerged onto the global cricket stage in 2018, when he earned selection to the West Indies squad for the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Shortly after that breakthrough, he made his List A debut for West Indies B during the 2018–19 Regional Super50 tournament, marking his first official appearance in senior limited-overs cricket.
A career-defining performance came in 2023, when Melius notched his first maiden first-class century while competing for the Windward Islands Volcanoes against the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force. His blistering innings of 192 runs off just 128 balls set a new historic record: the highest individual first-class score ever posted by a cricketer from Saint Lucia. Just as his career began to take off following that standout knock, however, Melius suffered a concussion that forced him to sit out the majority of the following competitive season, putting his momentum on hold.
Undeterred by the injury setback, Melius fought his way back to competitive play, appearing in both the Caribbean Premier League and the Abu Dhabi T10 leagues over the past two years. He has continued to rack up impressive results in regional competitions, leading Saint Lucia’s national side to a title win at the 2025 Windward Islands tournament. Most recently, he finished as the top run-scorer in the 2025 Saint Lucia Premier League, guiding the Gros Islet club to a championship victory.
