Centenarian Irenie Mussington Celebrates 103rd Birthday

A remarkable Antiguan centenarian has marked her 103rd trip around the sun, surrounded by loving messages from senior government leaders, beloved family, and local community leaders in a heartfelt celebration of her long and storied life.

Irenie Mussington, who has lived through more than a century of global and local change, welcomed a series of high-profile guests to her birthday festivities, including Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, Rawdon Turner, the nation’s Minister of Social and Urban Transformation, and a delegation of senior officials from the country’s Community Development and Citizens’ Engagement Division.

In a formal gesture of recognition for Mussington’s extraordinary milestone, the government of Antigua and Barbuda presented the centenarian with a monetary grant valued at 10,000 Eastern Caribbean dollars, alongside two hand-prepared fruit baskets.
