Law enforcement authorities in Barbados have issued a public call for assistance to locate a 76-year-old elderly man who went missing earlier this week. Michael Clifton Spooner, a resident of Austin’s Drive in Eden Lodge, St Michael, was last spotted by witnesses at approximately 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, as he was walking along Stadium Road in the same parish.
Officials have released a detailed physical description of Spooner to help the public identify him. He stands around five feet six inches tall, has a brown complexion, full set eyes, outward-flaring ears, a flat nose, thin lips and thick eyebrows.
Police confirmed that Spooner lives with dementia, a condition that frequently causes disorientation and leads him to wander away from his residence unaccompanied. Beyond his home neighborhood, he is known to often travel to the Princess Alice Highway and Bayville regions of St Michael, making those areas key points of interest for the search. At this time, investigators have not been able to confirm what clothing Spooner was wearing when he was last seen, which has added a small challenge to identification efforts.
The police department is urging any member of the public who may have seen Spooner since he went missing, or who has any information about his current location, to reach out to authorities immediately. Tips can be submitted to the District ‘A’ Police Station via phone at 430-7242 or 430-7246, the 24/7 Police Emergency line at 211, Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 1-800-TIPS (8477), or by visiting any closest local police station. This appeal was issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
